Atlas of Childhood

A zine about children's books
$2/28 pages/ 7" x 8.5"
by Celia Perez & contributors

From Celia's intro, "I deliberated over a title for a long time and kept coming back to that idea of traveling back into childhood--a road, a map, a doorway to the past." Linda Ocasio writes about why certain books stood out to her as a child, such as Harriet the Spy, Dot the Short and Candita's Choice. Celia Perez goes into depth about Witch's Sister and The Witch of Blackbird Pond, Sage Adderley looks back on her summer reading adventures, and Kate Haas writes about the book, Swallows and Amazons Forever. Also included is an interview by Celia Perez with Rita Smith, Curator of the Baldwin Library of Historical Children's Literature at the University of Florida.

Dad Zine
$3/20 pages/Quarter size
Nicci & contributors

This comp zine is a collection of postcards created by nine artists. Each postcard is themed around their fathers. Some share quick stories, lessons their father taught them, and brief
descriptions of their dad. The postcards are unique and beautiful in representing dads.

I asked artists to make postcards about their Dads, whomever those men were or were not for them, and to send them to me. Within these pages, you'll find the result, as well as some writing about my own Dad. xox Nicci

Dangerous Damsels
Feminist Fairy Tales
$4/24 pages/Half size
by Sarah Rose & contributors

Far from the traditional, this collection of revamped fairy tales from a variety of contributors shows the kick-ass modern attitude to the feminine and gives many of the original characters a kick up the butt. No offense Cinderella, but choosing your best mate over a guy is a much better plan, and  never before have Hansel and Gretel been so damn like-able. A literary zine that encompasses what fairy tales should be for young girls in this generation.

hoax.
issue four
feminism and hirstories
$4/80 pages/ Half size
by Sari & Rachel (plus other contributors)

Issue four of hoax. is another pleasurable and motivating zine from sari, rachel and their talented contributors & it has gotten larger, too! This super text heavy issue contains topics, such as "riot grrrl", reflections on working in a women's refuge, Jane Addams, (community, art, & media automonomy) in Slovenia, Sylvia Plath, Jeanette Howard Foster, a brief history of witchcraft, fathers & feminist daughters, becoming a Christian feminist, vegan recipes, feminist influences, gender identity and much more!

From the intro:
We wanted to approach feminism from a different perspective, exploring a chronology of both where we are going and how we have come tobe. We all live simultaneously within past, present and future versions of ourselves. We fixate on our memories, make judgments based on our imperial experiences, and push ourselves to obtain fixed goals for unforeseeable futures.

hoax. five
feminism and community
$3.50/68 pages/ Half size
by Sari & Rachel (plus other contributors)

I struggle with my feelings about community, how I define it and where I fit into it all. This issue of hoax. is themed around community and as usual, I found comfort, inspiration and knowledge within each of its pages. I was happy to see this issue kick off with a piece by Rachel, Requirements for a "Safer Space." Also inside of this text heavy issue are the following: What My Feminist Agenda Looks Like, Interview with Stina on Queer Land Movements, notes from a trans*feminist, An Intersectional Feminist Library Short-List, "Girl-on-Girl Crime" and the Need for Unity Amongst Women, healing: a reinvestigation of sexual assault and lots more!

hoax. six
feminism and communication
$4/76 pages/ Half size
by Sari & Rachel (plus other contributors)

I was really excited to see the different submissions all revolving around the universal theme of communication. The  topics covered things such as academic language, righteous anger, a graphic diary of queer politics, challenging the unwritten rules of punk, closing information gaps, questions about Slutwalk and a ton more. Like past issues of hoax., this issue is text heavy and huge!

From the intro: We aim to explore these questions, and others: How are knowledge/power are transmitted through tone/words/ body language? What makes us feel visible and what makes us feel silenced or erased? How do we understand ourselves and how do others read us?

Slut
SlutWalk Compilation Zine
$2/62 pages/Half size
by Jonas, Nichole, Carrie & contributors

An inspiring literary zine exploring the themes of rape and “slut-shaming”, this publication shatters the stigmas and so-called social norms that perpetrate our patriarchal judgments within society. A variety of writers contribute to the cause and undo some of the barriers that stop us talking about such an intimate subject.

WARNING: Due to the intimate content, please read in a safe environment.

Uncle Enos Magazine
The lo-fi voice of the PrimRock Underground
$3/60 pages/Half size
by Shane Speal

From the Publisher: Uncle Enos is dedicated to the uprising DIY music movement where musicians are not only making their own music, but they're making their own INSTRUMENTS, TOO! We build cigar box guitars, homemade drums and a whole load of other things.

The pages of Uncle Enos are filled with how-to's and stories of primal musicians who came before us with their homemade contraptions. There are also feature stories on musicians in the current Primitive music scene. But this is no usual music zine ... this is a textbook for a new movement. It's meant to be a wrench in the gears of the modern scene. It's loaded with pure passion.

The Worth of Water
A Compzine about Self-care
$2/36 pages/Half size
by Sarah Rose & contributors

I am proud to be a part of this rad self-care zine. The mastermind behind this project, Sarah Rose, writes - This isn't meant to be a definitive guide to self-care, obviously. But I hope that something in it makes you better able to cope with your triggers and stressors. I hope that it helps initiate a conversation about how to be both stronger and more vulnerable for ourselves and for each other.

Some of the topics covered are: managing mental health, coping via creativity, activist burnout, caring for yourself while caring for a trauma survivor, knowing when to veg out, a long list of coping strategies, resources, and more!
